Detailed day by day 11 Days Uganda and Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Check in at the Hotel

Arrive at Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport to start your 11 Days Uganda and Tanzania Safari. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by one of our representatives and then transferred to your booked hotel within Entebbe Town. On the way to your hotel, you’ll be briefed about this tour. Arrive at the hotel and check in.  You’ll spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing at the hotel to kill the jetlag.

Day 02: Road Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Evening Batwa Cultural Experience at the Lodge

Today you’ll be travelling to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south western Uganda. Wake up early at around 5:30 am and have breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, your driver guide will be at the hotel ready to transfer you to Bwindi. The journey to Bwindi is a long journey that takes about 8 to 9 hours through the scenic countryside. You’ll drive through various major towns as you proceed to Bwindi.

Lunch will be enjoyed en route (Mbarara). You’ll arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon where a group of local Batwa will welcome you with an electrifying cultural experience. You’ll enjoy their warm welcome and electrifying performances before checking in at your lodge for a short relaxation. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Overnight at the lodge.

Day 03: Enjoy Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Afternoon Relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi

On this third day of this classic 11 Days Uganda and Tanzania Safari, you’ll enjoy the long awaited mountain gorilla trekking experience. Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, go to the park headquarters where you’ll join other groups of travelers for a briefing session. During the briefing session, the park officials will take you through the gorilla trekking guidelines and rules while giving insights of what to expect during the trek. You’ll then be devided into small groups of about 8 members and each group will be allocated a gorilla family to trek.

After the briefing, it is time to grab your trekking stick and indulge in the tropical jungles of Bwindi to search for these massive creatures. You’ll traverse thick vegetation and challenging terrains however, the reward of finally encountering these majestic creatures is really rewarding. After locating the gorillas, you’ll spend a full hour observing them in the wild as they feed, play, and groom their young ones. At this moment, take as many photographs as possible for memories. After your allocated time with the gorillas elapses, start the trek back to the visitors center. You’ll then head back to the lodge for a refreshing meal before checking out.

Drive to Lake Bunyonyi where you’ll be spending your night relaxing.

Day 04: Scenic Road Transfer to Kigali Airport and Air Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport, Afternoon Road Transfer to Tarangire National Park (Transfer by Rwanda Air)

 

Following an early morning breakfast, depart your lodge and embark on a drive to Rwanda’s Kigali International Airport for a scheduled flight to Tanzania. The journey from Uganda to Rwanda takes about 4 hours. You’ll arrive in Rwanda’s Kigali International Airport and board your flight to Tanzania. Upon arrival in Tanzania, embark on a transfer to Tarangire National Park, a journey that takes about 2 hours.

Arrive at Tarangire National Park and proceed to your booked safari lodge. You’ll spend the rest of your day relaxing and unwinding at the lodge.

Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 05: Full Day Game Drive in Tarangire National Park and Nature Walk (Time to Sight a Series of Elephant Herds)

Today you’ll spend your day exploring the iconic Tarangire National Park. Wake up and have dinner at the lodge. After breakfast depart the lodge with packed lunch and embark on a full day adventure in the Park. Tarangire National Park is a popular wildlife viewing safari destination in Tanzania, especially for its large herds of elephant that are accustomed to safari vehicles. You’ll explore various wildlife viewing hotspots in the Park for an opportunity to witness various wildlife species that inhabit this National Park. Tarangire National is home to different wildlife species including; African buffalo, leopard, African wild dog, bushbuck, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and hippos among others.

While on the game drive, you’ll also have an opportunity to witness the various birdspecies that are found in this park. You’ll have a lunch break inbetween the game drive and enjoy a picnic lunch in the African bushes.

After lunch, continue with your exploration of this park, visit different sections that you didn’t visit during the morning game drive for opportunities to witness several other wildlife species that call this place home. As your day draws to a close, you’ll drive back to your safari lodge.

Day 06: Scenic Road Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater Area, Have Evening Game Drive

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic road transfer to Ngorongoro where your next adventure awaits. This short drive from Tarangire to Ngorongoro takes about 2 hours. Arrive at Ngorongoro and proceed to your booked safari lodge – you’ll have a short rest at the lodge. Lunch will be served at the lodge.

After lunch, you’ll embark on an afternoon game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater floor for a memorable adventure. The Ngorongoro Crater floor is one of the best wildlife viewing destinations in Tanzania, boasting large populations of big cats especially lions and all the members of the African Big Five. The crater floor is sometimes referred to as the ‘‘Garden of Eden’’ – it is one of the few places on earth where both wildlife and humans co-exist. At the crater floor, you’ll explore different wildlife hotspots for opportunities to spot various species. As your day draws to a close, ascend back to the crater rim where your lodge is located.

Day 07: Full Days Adventure in Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Game Drive, and Visit the Crater (Enjoy Rhino Tracking)

Today, you’ll explore the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Although the Ngorongoro Crater is more popular for wildlife viewing, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is also a rich wildlife viewing spot, especially for those interested if viewing large herds of mammal grazers. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area hosts large numbers of Wildebeest, Zebras, and Gazelles. You’ll embark on a game drive adventure in this area for opportunities to witness various wildlife species and birdlife that call this place home.

This place is also home to rhinos and you’ll have an opportunity to track these ancient and majestic creatures for a memorable encounter. Lunch will be enjoyed at the scenic and safe spot within this Conservations Area. After lunch, you’ll continue with your exploration of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Later after your adventure, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 08: Road Transfer to Ndutu Plains of Southern Serengeti National Park, Visit Olduvai Gorge, and Game Drive in Serengeti

Today, this 11 Days Uganda and Tanzania Safari takes you to the southern plains of Serengeti National Park for a remarkable game-viewing adventure. Start your day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, depart your lodge and embark on a game drive adventure through the Ngorongoro Area, visiting the Olduvai Gorge before proceeding to the Serengeti. Today’s adventure grants you a rare opportunity to experience and explore the Olduvai Gorge, a renowned archaeological site also referred to as the ‘‘Cradle of Mankind’’ because of its immense significance in the study of the evolution of humans.

After a visit to the Olduvai Gorge, you’ll proceed with your adventure to the Ndutu Area, a popular hotspot for wildlife viewing in Serengeti. The Ndutu Plains are renowned for hosting large wildlife numbers including large herds of wildebeest, zebras, Gazelles and Big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. You’ll enjoy witnessing these wildlife species from your safari vehicle. For those interested in witnessing the spectacular wildebeest migration, the Ndutu area offers plenty of opportunities to witness large herds of wildebeests. Day 09: Game Drive in Southern Serengeti and Proceed to Central Serengeti (Game Drive on the Way, and Evening Game Drive)

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, embark on a game drive in the southern section of Serengeti. Explore various wildlife hotspots in the southern section of Serengeti National Park for opportunities to see different wildlife species. You’ll explore the vast savannas of the Serengeti teeming with incredible diversity including birds and wildlife. These area is renowned for its spectacular beauty created by the flat, treeless landscape with fertile soils and seasonal rains that make it support a rich diversity.

Southern Serengeti plains are know as the calving grounds for wildebeest especially during the rain season (December to March). Hundreds of calves are bor here each day during this season making in a great destination for wildebeest migration safari. You’ll have an opportunity to witness large herds of mammal grazers while here.

You’ll the proceed with your adventure northwards to the central Serengeti region. Arrive at Central Serengeti and drive to your booked lodge for check in. Enjoy lunch and a short rest at the lodge. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive in the central area of Serengeti. This section of the park is known for hosting large numbers of big cats that you’ll have an opportunity to witness during your afternoon adventure. Explore various wildlife viewing hotspots here before dawn. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Morning Game Drive and Great Wildlife Migration at Grumeti River in Serengeti National Park, Afternoon Visit to Maasai People in Boma.

Today’s adventure allows you to experience the Great Wildebeest Migration. Wake up early in the morning and enjoy an early morning breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge and embark on a game drive adventure following the wildebeest migration trail. You’ll visit the Grumeti River for an opportunity to witness the dramatic river crossing. You’ll have a chance to witness large herds of mammals crossing this crocodile-infested river. If lucky enough, you’ll also witness the apex predators hunting the wildebeest.

You’ll then return to the lodge for a lunch break and a short rest. After lunch, you’ll visit the Masaai Community for a cultural experience. The Masaai are known for their unique culture and ways of life. You’ll enjoy interacting with the locals as you learn about new ways of life, culture and traditions. Later in the evening, drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Scenic Road Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport with a Stopover at Karatu Village, Evening Flight Back Home

Wake up and enjoy an early morning breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge and embark on a transfer to Arusha. You’ll stop over at Karatu Village for an opportunity to buy souvenirs and experience the local markets. Proceed with your drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight back home.
